NTA NEET 2026 Re-Exam Updates: Admit Card, City Intimation Slip, Fee Refund, Scribe Details, New Syllabus, Cutoff
The NEET (UG) 2026 re-test is officially happening on Sunday, June 21, 2026. This follows the cancellation of the original May 3rd exam after those paper leak allegations.
Key Exam Day Details
- Date: 21 June 2026 (Sunday).
- Time: 02:00 PM to 05:15 PM (IST).
- Extra Time: Candidates will receive 15 additional minutes (195 total minutes) designated for administrative formalities like identity verification and biometric documentation.
- Mode: Offline (Pen-and-Paper) using OMR sheets in 13 languages.
- Venue: Various cities across India and abroad. Note that your re-exam Centre may differ from your original May 3 Centre.
Important Updates & Deadlines
- City Intimation Slip: The advance city intimation slip was released on 7 June 2026. Candidates can download it from the official NTA portal to view their allotted exam city.
- Admit Card: Fresh admit cards are expected to be released by 14 June 2026 on NTA official website.
- No Re-registration: Candidates who appeared or were eligible for the original exam do not need to register again or pay additional fees; existing applications remain valid.
- Scribe Details: PwD/PwBD candidates requiring a scribe must submit their details through the official portal by 12 June 2026.
- Fee Refund: The facility to submit bank details for exam fee refunds has been extended until 22 June 2026.
Security & Support
- Security Measures: The re-exam will feature multi-layer monitoring, including AI-based surveillance, enhanced CCTV, and stricter frisking.
- Transportation Help: State governments in Bihar, Odisha, and Uttarakhand have announced free bus travel for students on exam day to facilitate easy movement to centers.
- Question Booklet Changes: To assist with rough work, the booklet will now contain four rough-work pages—two at the beginning and two at the end.
New Syllabus
The exam consists of 200 multiple-choice questions, out of which candidates must attempt 180. The marks are split as follows:
1. Physics (45 Questions / 180 Marks)
Focuses on both mechanics and modern physics, emphasizing clarity over rote memorization.
- Class 11 Units: Physical World and Measurement, Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Work, Energy & Power, Rotational Motion, Gravitation, Properties of Bulk Matter, Thermodynamics, Oscillations & Waves.
- Class 12 Units: Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Magnetic Effects of Current and Magnetism, Electromagnetic Induction (EMI), Alternating Currents (AC), Electromagnetic Waves, Optics, Dual Nature of Radiation and Matter, Atoms & Nuclei, Electronic Devices.
2. Chemistry (45 Questions / 180 Marks)
Divided into Physical, Organic, and Inorganic Chemistry.
- Class 11 Units: Basic Concepts of Chemistry, Structure of Atom, Classification of Elements, Chemical Bonding, States of Matter, Thermodynamics, Equilibrium, Redox Reactions, Organic Chemistry.
- Class 12 Units: Solid State (excluded), Solutions, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, Surface Chemistry (excluded), d- and f-Block Elements, Coordination Compounds, Haloalkanes/Haloarenes, Aldehydes & Ketones, Biomolecules.
3. Biology (90 Questions / 360 Marks)
Holds the highest weightage, divided into Botany and Zoology.
- Class 11 Units: Diversity in the Living World, Structural Organization in Animals and Plants, Cell Structure & Function, Plant Physiology, Human Physiology.
- Class 12 Units: Reproduction, Genetics and Evolution, Biology in Human Welfare, Biotechnology, Ecology & Environment.

- AIIMS Delhi Target: Aim for 700+ marks.
- General/EWS: A score of 610+ is considered the safe boundary for government seats.OBC: Aim for 590+ marks.

- ST: Generally safe at 490+ marks.
State-Wise Expected Admission Cutoffs
Admission cutoffs vary by state due to seat availability and local competition.
- Delhi: Highest competition, expected closing scores around 650–680+.
- Maharashtra & Tamil Nadu: Expected closing range between 620–670+.
- Uttar Pradesh & Bihar: Generally range from 560–620+.
- Karnataka: Often slightly lower than northern states, ranging from 610–650+
