Key Details & Eligibility for 2026: CBSE Single Girl Scholarship 2026

The CBSE Single Girl Child (SGC) Scholarship 2026 is a merit-based program for Indian female students who are the only child of their parents, and have passed the CBSE Class X Examination with 70% or more marks and are continuing their further school education of Class XI and XII at CBSE-affiliated schools with the tuition fee in class XI & XII shall not be more than Rs. 3,000/- p.m.

CBSE Single girl scholarship 2026

Eligibility: 

  • Applicant Status: Must be a single girl child (no siblings) and an Indian National.
  • Academic Criteria: Passed Class X CBSE board examination with 70% or more marks.
  • Schooling: Must be pursuing Class XI and XII in a CBSE-affiliated school.
  • Tuition Fee Restriction: The tuition fee in class XI & XII shall not be more than Rs. 3,000/- p.m. and the school must not have increased tuition fees by more than 10% for Class XI and XII.
  • Income Limit: Parental income often capped, such as up to ₹8 lakh per annum.

NOTE: NRI applicants of the Board are also eligible for the award. The tuition fee for the NRIs has been decided maximum of Rs. 6,000/- per month.

Rate of Scholarships and mode of payment 

The rate of scholarship shall be Rupees One Thousand (Rs. 1,000/-) per month. A Scholarship awarded under the scheme shall be paid for a maximum period of two years. Payment will be made through ECS/NEFT only.  

Important Notes for 2026 Applicants

  • Timeline: The application for 2025 closed around late November/early December. For 2026, expect the application window to open between September and November 2026 following the declaration of the 2026 Board results.
  • Verification: Applications must be verified by the school principal.
  • Renewal: The scholarship is awarded for a maximum of two years and must be renewed for Class XII, requiring at least 50-60% marks in Class XI

Selection Procedure

a) Student should have passed Class X Examination from the CBSE and secured 70% or more marks.

b) For Renewal : The student should have received CBSE Single Girl Child Merit Scholarship last year and should be a student of CBSE in class XI in the previous year and have scored 70% or more marks in Class XI and promoted to class XII.

c) Pursuing Class XI & XII from CBSE affiliated Schools.

d) Student(Girl) should be ONLY CHILD of their parents.

e) Tuition fee should not be more than Rs. 2,500/- per month in Class X and Rs. 3,000/- per month in Class XI & XII.

f) Students with gross parental/family income upto Rs. 8 lakh per annum are eligible for scholarship under the scheme. A self-declaration by the parent on a nonjudicial notarized stamp paper shall be uploaded online. (THE FORMAT OF AFFIDAVIT IS ATTACHED HEREWITH).

g) First quarterly fee slip duly verified by the Principal should be uploaded online.

h) All the applications must be verified from the present school where the student is studying. In case applications are not verified the same will be rejected. The facility of processing the application is provided to school where the candidate is studying.

Application Process: Applications are typically submitted online via the official CBSE portal.
