NEET stands for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, a national level entrance exam for submission to undergraduate medical, dental and AYUSH courses in India. Conducted by the National Testing Agency(NTA).

Eligibility:

Candidate must be at least 17 years old by Dec 31 of the admission Year and have passed their 12th or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as core subjects.
Minimum percentage requirements in these subjects are 50% for General/EWS, 45% for General-PH, and 40% for SC/ST/OBC (Including OBC-PH) candidates. There is no upper age limit for the exam.
Candidates appearing for their 12th-grade exam are also eligible to apply, provided they meet the criteria at the time of admission.

Exam Pattern: 

The NEET exam is a 3-hour(180 minute), Pen-and-Paper (OMR-based) test with 180 compulsory multiple choice questions across Physics(45), Chemistry(45), and Biology(90), There is a 4-mark reward for each correct answer and a 1-mark penalty for each incorrect answer, with no marks for un-attempted questions.

Language: 


The exam is conducted in 13 languages. The language must be chosen at the time of registration and cannot be changed later. The English version will be the final authority in case of any translation difference. The NEET 2026 exam will be available in 13 languages, including English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu and Punjabi.

Exam Date(Expected): 

The NEET 2026 exam is expected to be held on Sunday, May 3, 2026, by the NTA. The application forms are anticipated to be released around February or March 2026.
