CBSE Suspended Affiliation of GD Goenka School Gurugram

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has suspended the affiliation of GD Goenka High School in Sohna, Gurugram, for the 2026-27 academic session. This decision comes after a surprise inspection found serious safety risks. These include shared campus facilities with other institutions, insufficient boundary walls, and failure to meet safety standards.

According to the CBSE order, the school was found to be sharing its infrastructure and premises with two other institutions without clear boundaries or a solid wall. During the inspection, it was noted that several institutions operated from the same building on all floors. A university program also ran on the top floor of the same structure.

The Board suspended the school's affiliation. They stated that a school campus shared with other entities, without proper physical separation or a boundary wall, puts students at potential risk.

In response to the violations of the Affiliation Bye-Laws of the Board and because the school attempted to fix the issues identified during the inspection, the Competent Authority has issued the following orders, considering the students' future:
  • Suspension Period: One year (2026-27 academic session).
  • Safety Lapses: The school shared premises with other entities, lacked a six-foot boundary wall, and allowed unauthorized access, raising safety concerns for students.
  • Corrective Actions Ordered: The school must build a dedicated,6-foot high concrete boundary wall, ensure separate, secure entry/exit points, and cease sharing facilities.
  • Impact on Students: While admissions for classes 9 and 11 are suspended for 2026-27, existing students (classes 9-12) can continue.
The Board has also instructed the school to remove all other institutions from its premises and fix the problems. This way, the building and playground will be used only by G D Goenka High School students. There must be separate entry and exit points from the main road.

Impact on Students

  • New Admissions: The school cannot admit new students to Classes 9 and 11 for the 2026-27 session.
  • Existing Students: Those who are enrolled in Classes 9 to 12 can keep studying at the school.
The CBSE took this action after receiving complaints and conducting a surprise inspection in August 2025.
